Multiple Intelligences Developmental Assessment Scales – THE MIDAS History
I created The MIDAS in 1987 to help people to achieve their full intellectual potential and live satisfying and rewarding lives as valued members of their community. The MIDAS is a questionnaire that provides an in-depth understanding of the respondent’s abilities in the eight intelligences as described by Howard Gardner (Frames of Mind, 1983) – linguistic, logical-mathematical, visual-spatial, musical, kinesthetic, naturalist, interpersonal and intrapersonal. Since 1987 more than 750,000 profiles have been completed around the world. MIDAS Profiles are now provided by my colleagues in the Netherlands, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea. Check into this website for details.
Gardner provides extensive evidence for the idea that intelligence is more than ‘book smarts’ (an IQ score). This view opens up many new directions for teaching, learning, parenting, counseling and career planning. It is exciting to share the power of the multiple intelligences with students, teachers, principals, counselors and business leaders.
