ET Question #2- Can ET skill levels be measured?

To be identified as an ‘intelligence’ an ability needs to be operationally defined with distinct and observable levels of skill ranging from low level to expert. Bloom’s taxonomy is a useful guide. What does it mean to be highly skilled at existential thinking (analysis, synthesis) versus low level of merely informational awareness?

  1. Yes. Definitely. When students are engaged with curriculum and have permission to make choices regarding subject matter and/or method of expression they face dichotomy. Choosing eliminates other choices and begins a line of inquiry to resolve a problem, specific to each individual. In other words, information is not relevant until a student gives it meaning and context. The best model for higher level thinking is choice-based learning.
