The 3rd and 4th grade students at St. Patrick’s Elementary School in Kent, Ohio made a field trip to the Kent State University airport on Friday, Sept. 26th. This visit reinforced their learning of R.A.D.A.R., a systematic method for solving the dreaded Math Story Problems. Students received a real life introduction to the use of checklists and the Good Thinking Habits that pilots must use to be safe. Safety and careful attention to details was strongly emphasized!
We are very grateful to all the flight instructors who took their time to make the visit a great success. Students were really engaged and responded enthusiastically to the pilots. I’m sure it will be an experience they will remember for a long time. It will also reinforce what the students hear everyday from their teachers in the classroom!
Special thanks to Maureen McFarland, Program Director, Aeronautics, for making the field trip possible. And thanks to Ben Satyshur, Aviation Safety Program Manager, for his attention to the students and enthusiasm!
